Eternity Ring by Meg Hansen

oṃ pūrṇamadaḥ pūrṇamidaṃ pūrṇātpurṇamudacyate

The Universe is infinite. It never ends.

You and I cannot part.

pūrṇasya pūrṇamādāya pūrṇamevāvaśiṣyate

The Universe is one. It is undivided.

You and I cannot be apart.

My finger holds our forever

Golden ring, pocked by hardened coal,

Rolls off when it gets cold

Note:

Verse 1.3.28 in the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad, known as the “Peace chant,” is a treatise on non-dualism and the undivided, infinite nature of the Universe. Original texts cited in the Roman alphabet follow the International Alphabet of Sanskrit Transliteration scheme:

ॐ पूर्णमदः पूर्णमिदं पूर्णात्पुर्णमुदच्यते

पूर्णस्य पूर्णमादाय पूर्णमेवावशिष्यते ॥

oṃ pūrṇamadaḥ pūrṇamidaṃ pūrṇātpurṇamudacyate

pūrṇasya pūrṇamādāya pūrṇamevāvaśiṣyate ॥

“That Brāhman is infinite, and this Universe is infinite. The infinite proceeds from the infinite. Taking the infinitude of the infinite Universe, it remains as the infinite Brāhman alone.”

Brāhman (Sanskrit) – Ultimate Reality of the Universe
