Our last night together
a window and a
man inside with a jacket over his face
a woman laughing
under blades of gold sugar
tonight i am safe like a crab in her shell
only walnuts & glow worms move
a crack appears i can fit my fist inside and make
it larger than a swimming pool but i leave it alone
what if the floor breaks open dropping me
down into the airport?
the fear that this love will end
the fear that it wont
i know the holes in the sky are fists through telephone box walls
thousands of them
what else can i tell you
stars are teeth
his face picks gravel
from my heart
You let me live in a non-tragic universe
i feel positively door hinge
i feel i’m all wrong about everything
i feel i ought not to mention it
this century of art is a factory
exploding in the middle of a
rush hour city
without a piece of it
hitting anybody
i’m sorry i don’t mean this
it’s impossible not to want
perfection after sitting on sam’s
lap
on the red leather
couch smoking after
dinner blood
racing to sleep’s finish line
with coca cola motors
Starlings clog the engines
strange sewing machines quietly
make the universe bigger
aeroplanes fly above
greenland’s distracting fields
i think my lillie pillie is out all night
dancing topless
silver beads on the floor
sweep our ankles together
it becomes difficult for us
to return home the soups are cold and bony
sunsets quick
indifferent
does she remember being accompanied by
open gates to every field?
the people we travelled with back then
are dead now
i sit on a wall in zugdidi holding my ears
because nothing is completely
true or good or speechless to someone like this
yet i’ve got her silver beads on
because i must decide
will it be summer again soon?
