I am trying my best but still the evening trees are printed against the darkening blue
I want so much more life from this city but every time I absorb this scene I feel ashamed
how many would kill for this darkening blue
how many have it and don’t notice
how many want me to come into their lives
not me exactly but the idea of someone like me
how many have the idea of my life
tonight with its rain on the patio in the porch light
each drop as brief as the time I have with the moss on the brick wall
with the withered leaves that continue to scatter about the road
