An un-special day by Nisha Bhakoo

I will remember –

frost on your eyelashes.

I will remember –

the calling of the crow

as we entered the forest,

we wanted to lose

the heaviness of our bones,

surrendering ourselves

to pine trees.

To try on new bodies

in movement with no purpose.

I will remember –

tiny drops of condensation

on our flask of Earl Grey

and the salty crisps

we ate in a hurry

in the chirping of

an overcast morning.

An un-special day,

examining pinecones,

made special by escape.
